Creating a plugin to directly invoke a script at remote host

Hi all,
The task which I am going to discuss is one among many tasks, which I have to implement as part of my M.Tech final year project,So please respond by commenting if you had implemented such kind of idea.

---->I have to modify a open source monitoring tool GUI to call a script at remote machine to fetch data from MYSQL database at remote host and script send data back to GUI which we have to show in GUI.
---->Can we invoke a script at remote location via cacti GUI.If yes then please put some light on how ?
